Jets Activate Kicker Greg Zuerlein from Injured Reserve
The New York Jets have officially designated kicker Greg Zuerlein to return from injured reserve, as reported by the NFL transaction wire.
This move opens a three-week window for Zuerlein to practice with the team before he must be added to the active roster.
At 36 years old, Zuerlein was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He spent eight successful seasons with the Rams and completed the final year of a three-year, $6.75 million contract that included $2.375 million guaranteed before entering free agency.
After leaving the Rams, Zuerlein signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys, but was released as he entered the last year of that deal. He then joined the Jets for a year before re-signing with the team in 2023.
Later, the Jets inked Zuerlein to a two-year, $8.4 million deal for the 2024 season.
In 2024, Zuerlein participated in eight games for the Jets, successfully converting nine of 15 field goal attempts, boasting a conversion rate of 60 percent, alongside 13 of 14 extra-point attempts.
