NFC Insights: Jerry Jones, Dan Quinn, Commanders, Cowboys, and Eagles

Commanders

  • Commanders Head Coach Dan Quinn shared insights on facing top-tier teams: “If you want to be a contender you have to beat some heavy hitters.” (John Keim)
  • Commanders linebacker Mykal Walker received a $6,250 fine for unnecessary roughness (helmet use) in Week 15.

Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys recently provided significant contract extensions to QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb this offseason. However, these moves have impacted their financial flexibility in enhancing other roster positions. With DE Micah Parsons also due for a major extension, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones acknowledged potential challenges with the salary cap in 2025, which could necessitate difficult roster decisions.

“We anticipated a challenge this year and the next,” Jones stated, as reported by ESPN’s Todd Archer. “The salary cap will be tight. We still have funds tied up from players who are no longer with us, and we will have other players who won’t return in the future but will still count against the cap.”

Eagles

Eagles cornerback Darius Slay has praised rookie corner Quinyon Mitchell for his impressive first season and highlighted his skills on the field.

“He’s playing smart, fast, and physical,” Slay remarked, according to Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “He’s aggressive in his play, handling his responsibilities exceptionally well. It’s exciting to see a player from a smaller school like Toledo showcasing such hunger and living up to the expectations.”
