According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Philadelphia Eagles are signing quarterback Ian Book to their practice squad.

It’s important to mention that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts did not practice on Wednesday due to a concussion, while Kenny Pickett was limited due to a rib injury.

ESPN’s Jeff McLane reports that the Eagles are also signing running back Lew Nichols to their practice squad and are releasing defensive back Tariq Castro-Fields.

Ian Book, 26, was drafted in the fourth round by the New Orleans Saints out of Notre Dame during the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract valued at $4.153 million, which included a signing bonus of $673,584.

After being waived by the Saints, Book was claimed by the Eagles in August 2022, but was waived again at the end of the preseason. He had a brief stint on the Patriots’ practice squad and also participated in tryouts for the 49ers and Bills. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him to a futures contract for the 2024 season, but he was ultimately released during final roster cuts.

In his 2021 season with the Saints, Book played in one game, making one start where he completed 12 of 20 passes for 135 yards, throwing no touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed three times for a total of six yards.
