The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have placed their left tackle Trent Williams on injured reserve.

In addition to this move, the 49ers have signed offensive lineman Matt Hennessy to a two-year contract from the Falcons practice squad. The team also added OL Sebastian Gutierrez to their practice squad.

Trent Williams, at 36 years old, was a first-round pick by Washington in 2010. He completed the final year of his five-year contract worth $66 million, which included $43.25 million guaranteed, earning a base salary of $12.5 million in 2020.

After being acquired by the 49ers, Williams signed a new deal that extends through the 2026 season, with a projected base salary of $20.05 million for 2024.

During the current season, Williams appeared in 10 games as the starting left tackle for the 49ers.

Matt Hennessy, 27, was drafted in the third round by the Falcons in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Temple. He recently finished his four-year rookie contract worth $4.74 million, receiving a base salary of $2.74 million for the 2023 season. Hennessy was placed on injured reserve before the start of the 2023 season and didn’t play in any games for Atlanta.

He signed a one-year deal with the Eagles for the 2024 season but was waived after preseason, later returning to the Falcons practice squad and then to their active roster. Atlanta released him in November, leading to his re-signing on the practice squad.

In 2024, Hennessy participated in four games with the Falcons.
