Commanders Activate Defensive Tackle Jonathan Allen from Injured Reserve

According to Tom Pelissero, the Washington Commanders are set to activate defensive tackle Jonathan Allen from injured reserve this Saturday.

Allen suffered a pectoral injury in Week 6, but fortunately, it did not necessitate season-ending surgery. The veteran defensive tackle has dedicated significant effort to his rehabilitation, working diligently to return to the lineup.

This activation could prove to be a critical boost for Washington as they push toward the playoffs, with Allen being one of the team’s top defensive players.

Additionally, the Commanders have promoted cornerback Kevon Seymour and wide receiver Brycen Tremayne from their practice squad.

At 29 years old, Allen was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft from Alabama. He signed a four-year, $11.596 million contract that included a $6.573 million signing bonus.

Washington exercised Allen’s fifth-year option, which paid him $10.05 million in 2021. He then signed a lucrative four-year extension worth $72 million.

For the final two years of his contract, Allen is set to earn base salaries of $14 million and $15.5 million, respectively. In 2024, he has played six games, tallying 15 tackles and two sacks.
