The New York Giants are actively scouting this year’s quarterback class in preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft, as highlighted by ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

According to Raanan, sources have indicated that the Giants’ backup plan, if their current starter does not pan out, has always been to look for viable options in the draft. “It’s hardly a surprise they have heavily scouted at the University of Miami and spent an inordinate amount of time in Boulder and at Colorado games,” he reported.

The Miami Hurricanes and Colorado Buffaloes are the respective schools of quarterback prospects Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, both of whom have drawn significant interest from Giants personnel.

Raanan also mentioned that Giants general manager Joe Schoen has made multiple trips to Colorado this season and was part of a group that attended a Buffaloes practice in November.

Sanders is regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects available. Over the last two years at Colorado, he has amassed 7,156 passing yards, delivered 62 touchdowns, and only thrown 11 interceptions. Currently, he leads the FBS in completion percentage (74.2) and ranks fifth in quarterback rating (168.8).

Ranked ninth on Bleacher Report’s 2025 big board, Sanders holds an overall grade of 8.5, just one spot below Ward. He is recognized as the most accurate and pro-ready quarterback among this year’s draft prospects.

As the Giants currently share the NFL’s worst record at 2-12 with the Las Vegas Raiders, securing a top draft pick may lead them to prioritize a new quarterback, especially following the release of Daniel Jones.

Raanan also noted that while Sanders appears to favor the Raiders, he would likely embrace the opportunity to play in New York if given the chance.
