Penn State quarterback Drew Allar has announced his decision to return for his senior season in 2025.

Allar has spent his entire college career with the Nittany Lions, leading them to the College Football Playoff with an impressive 11-2 record this season.

His return offers much-needed stability at the quarterback position for Penn State, especially after sophomore Beau Pribula announced his transfer on Sunday.

Allar confirmed his decision to stay in Happy Valley with a statement posted on X.

“I know there’s still more work to do which is why I look forward to making more memories with my teammates this year and beyond,” Allar stated.

Pribula may have anticipated Allar’s return, which could have influenced his decision to transfer.

Allar joined Penn State as a 5-star recruit and became the full-time starter in 2023, having an impressive season with a completion rate of 59.9%, passing for 2,631 yards and leading the conference with 25 touchdowns, while only throwing two interceptions.

Although he did throw seven interceptions in 13 starts during the 2024 season, his accuracy improved, averaging 12.9 yards per completed pass. Allar completed 69.1% of his throws for 2,894 yards.

Allar has continued to improve throughout the season, throwing for 1,108 yards and nine touchdowns with two interceptions in his last five games.

With his future confirmed with the Nittany Lions, Allar now focuses on their upcoming College Football Playoff matchup against SMU, a team that boasted an 11-2 record despite not clinching an ACC title.

Allar will aim to maintain his performance against the ACC’s top scoring defense in their showdown on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
