The Penn State Nittany Lions are one step closer to the College Football Playoff championship game.
Ranked No. 6, the Nittany Lions triumphed over No. 3 Boise State with a score of 31-14 in the Fiesta Bowl, earning a spot in the Orange Bowl and the CFP semifinal.
After a strong start, Penn State took a commanding 14-0 lead on their first two drives. However, the Broncos responded, scoring in the second quarter to narrow the gap before the Nittany Lions added a field goal just before halftime.
Boise State surged in the second half, starting the third quarter with an impressive drive capped by a 53-yard touchdown pass. Nevertheless, Penn State quickly reclaimed the momentum, entering the final quarter with a 24-14 lead.
Despite multiple strong drives in the fourth quarter, the Broncos failed to score. An interception and a missed field goal allowed Penn State to take control, highlighted by Nick Singleton’s 58-yard touchdown run, extending their lead to 31-14.
Singleton wrapped up the game with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown, while fellow running back Kaytron Allen contributed significantly with 135 yards.

A crucial interception by Boise State ultimately sealed the victory for the Nittany Lions.
Although Boise State’s standout running back Ashton Jeanty managed 104 rushing yards, his performance was marred by an uncharacteristic fumble in the first half. He finally found his rhythm later in the game; however, it was not enough against the formidable Penn State defense.
Had Jeanty found his game earlier, the outcome might have been different, but ultimately, the Penn State defense proved too strong for the Broncos.
Post-game, fans expressed their excitement for Penn State, as they set their sights on a national championship appearance.
The Nittany Lions now await their next opponent, either No. 2 Georgia or No. 7 Notre Dame, who will face off in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday.
Regardless of whom Penn State faces, it will undoubtedly be a challenging match. However, the Nittany Lions have demonstrated their capability to make a championship run.
