Cardinals Place RB James Conner on Injured Reserve List
The Arizona Cardinals have officially announced that running back James Conner has been placed on injured reserve.
Earlier today, it was confirmed that Conner would be sidelined for Week 18 due to a knee injury that he sustained two weeks ago and aggravated again this past weekend.
To fill the vacancy on the roster, the Cardinals have promoted Michael Carter from their practice squad.
Conner, 29, was a third-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017 out of the University of Pittsburgh. He recently completed the final year of a four-year contract worth $3.09 million, which included a signing bonus of $706,288 and a base salary of $745,000 for the 2020 season.
After a standout performance in 2021, the Cardinals signed Conner to a one-year contract and later extended him with a three-year deal valued at $21 million.
This season, he was expected to earn a base salary of $3.735 million in the final year of his contract before signing a two-year extension worth $19 million earlier this season.
In 2024, Conner played in 16 games, rushing for 1,094 yards on 236 attempts (averaging 4.6 yards per carry) and scoring eight rushing touchdowns. He also excelled in the passing game, recording 47 receptions on 55 targets for 414 yards, adding another touchdown to his impressive season stats.
