According to Rapoport, Allen sustained this injury during Week 1. Although he has been mentioned in the injury reports up until Week 12, details regarding the status of his hand were not clear until recently.

Despite the injury, Allen has displayed remarkable resilience and is currently the frontrunner for the MVP award this season.

At just 28 years old, Allen was a first-round pick for the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft, selected out of Wyoming. He was in the final year of his four-year, $21.183 million rookie contract in 2021, which included a signing bonus of $13.485 million when the Bills opted for his fifth-year option.

Buffalo subsequently secured Allen with a six-year, $258 million contract extension before the 2021 season commenced.

Throughout the 2024 season, Allen has played in 14 games, amassing 3,395 passing yards, completing 64.4% of his throws, and recording 25 touchdowns against just 5 interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 484 yards and scored 11 rushing touchdowns.
