Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Uncertain for Sunday’s Game
Adam Schefter has reported that the Miami Dolphins have downgraded QB Tua Tagovailoa to doubtful for their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns.
Should Tua be unable to play due to a hip injury, Schefter indicates that former Browns QB Tyler Huntley will take the starting position against Cleveland.
Tua Tagovailoa, age 26, was drafted by the Dolphins as the No. 5 overall pick in 2020 after a successful career at Alabama. He signed a four-year rookie contract valued at $30,275,438, which included a signing bonus of $19,578,501, earning a base salary of $1,010,000 in his contract’s final year.
The Dolphins have exercised Tagovailoa’s fifth-year option, which is valued at $23,171,000 for the 2024 season.
This offseason, the team went a step further by signing Tagovailoa to a four-year contract worth up to $212 million, featuring $167 million guaranteed.
In the 2024 season, Tagovailoa has played in 11 games, achieving a completion rate of 72.9% with 2,867 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.
