The New York Jets have officially placed Olu Fashanu, their first-round left tackle, on injured reserve, as reported by Zack Rosenblatt.

Fashanu is dealing with plantar fasciitis, a condition that will conclude his season, as confirmed by Rosenblatt.

The Jets have validated this update and announced the promotion of Jarius Monroe to their active roster. Additionally, they added Greg Joseph (kicker) and Kamron Cline (defensive end) to their practice squad while releasing tight end Neal Johnson.

At just 22, Fashanu was a standout at Penn State, recognized with multiple accolades last season including consensus All-American, Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, and first-team All-Big Ten.

The Jets selected him with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract worth $20,076,301, which includes an signing bonus of $11,420,946 and a fifth-year option for 2028.

During the 2024 season, Fashanu participated in 15 games, starting seven at tackle. According to Pro Football Focus, he was rated as the 62nd tackle among 79 qualifying players.
