In addition to Zuerlein’s return, the Jets are also promoting Bruce Hector from the practice squad to the active roster for the upcoming Week 17 match-up.

Greg Zuerlein, now 37 years old, was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Rams. He spent eight seasons with the team, concluding the last year of a three-year contract worth $6.75 million, of which $2.375 million was guaranteed, before entering free agency.

He then signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys, where he was on the final year of his deal before being released. Shortly after, Zuerlein joined the Jets on a one-year agreement and re-signed with them in 2023.

In 2024, the Jets secured Zuerlein’s services with a two-year contract valued at $8.4 million.

This season, Zuerlein has played in eight games, achieving nine successful field goals out of 15 attempts (60% accuracy), and converting 13 out of 14 extra-point tries.
