AFC Coaching News: Mike Vrabel, Joel Bitonio, and Updates on the Browns, Ravens, and Steelers

Browns

Longtime Browns left guard Joel Bitonio is wrapping up his 11th season in the NFL, with one year left on his current contract. Bitonio stated that after the season concludes, he’ll take some time to evaluate whether he’s both physically and mentally prepared to return for another season in 2025.

“We’ll see how we’re doing in a couple of weeks after the season,” Bitonio explained, as reported by 92.3 The Fan. “It’s very hard to make a decision when you’re in the middle of it. You’re going through that daily grind, you know what I mean? So I’m going to finish the year as strong as I can and see how we feel in a couple of weeks and go from there.”

  • Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that the Browns’ restructuring of QB Deshaun Watson’s contract helps them manage the salary cap more effectively but “doesn’t change their long-term commitment” to him.
  • While Watson is set for next season, Russini notes that the Browns are open to introducing quarterback competition next year.
  • NFL Media has stated that the Browns plan to retain head coach Kevin Stefanski despite the challenging season.
  • The report also highlights former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, currently serving as a consultant for the Browns, who is effectively stepping into the role of offensive line coach and is anticipated to seek a head coaching position this cycle, possibly prompting Cleveland to reinforce their coaching staff.

Ravens

Steelers

  • Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was fined $11,255 for unnecessary roughness (facemask) during Week 14.
