Colts QB Anthony Richardson Inactive; Joe Flacco to Start in Week 17
The Indianapolis Colts have officially ruled out their starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson, for Sunday’s game due to ongoing back and foot issues. In his place, veteran QB Joe Flacco will take the helm as the starter for Week 17.
Anthony Richardson, aged 22, declared for the NFL Draft after his impressive redshirt sophomore season in 2022, where he thrived as a full-time starter at Florida. The Colts selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
He inked a four-year contract worth $36,874,031, which includes a signing bonus of $23,817,477. Richardson’s cap figure for the 2023 season stands at $6,704,369, with a fifth-year option available for the Colts to consider in 2026.
Unfortunately, Richardson underwent season-ending shoulder surgery after sustaining an injury to his AC joint in Week 5 of his rookie year.
In the 2024 season, Richardson played in 11 games, completing 47.7 percent of his passes for a total of 1,814 yards, along with eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Additionally, he rushed the ball 86 times for 499 yards, scoring six rushing touchdowns.
