Titans Release Kicker Matthew Wright
The Tennessee Titans have officially released kicker Matthew Wright.
Wright was brought on as an injury substitute for veteran kicker Nick Folk, who has since returned to full health and is prepared to take back his role.
At 28 years old, Wright entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from UCF in 2019 and initially signed a rookie contract with the Steelers. However, he was waived following training camp.
Afterward, he signed a futures deal with the Lions, but was soon released before joining the Jaguars’ practice squad. The Jaguars later promoted him to their active roster.
Since then, Wright has played for the Chiefs, Steelers, Panthers, 49ers, and Falcons, ultimately joining the Patriots. He had another period with the Panthers as an injury replacement for kicker Eddy Pineiro.
This year, he has had brief appearances with the Steelers, 49ers, and Chiefs.
In the 2024 season, Wright participated in four games for the 49ers, Chiefs, and Titans, successfully converting 13 out of 14 field goal attempts and making all six extra point attempts.
