Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes highlighted the team’s resilience after securing three victories in an 11-day period.

“This showcases our team’s toughness,” Mahomes remarked, as reported by Around The NFL. “We definitely improved as the games progressed. Our guys displayed both mental and physical toughness. Competing against top-tier teams in those hard-fought battles and emerging with three wins is no small feat. Securing the No. 1 seed is crucial; it feels akin to winning a playoff game. I’m thrilled we achieved that.”

Even with the top seed secured, head coach Andy Reid emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in the upcoming game.

“Our work is far from over,” Reid stated. “While we will celebrate this, we recognize the need to refocus. We face a solid Denver team next, and the playoffs are right around the corner. We must keep our sharpness.”

Raiders

Raiders safety Isaiah Pola-Mao made significant strides in Week 16, forcing two fumbles that were recovered by Las Vegas in the second quarter. Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham expressed pride in Pola-Mao’s development beyond his initial role on special teams.

“He’s been learning how to navigate this league primarily through special teams, correcting some of the tackling issues we noticed from his college days,” Graham noted, according to Levi Damien of the Raiders Wire. “He’s excelled when given opportunities. He’s among the players I take pride in regarding their growth and development.”

Head coach Antonio Pierce indicated that Pola-Mao is primed for a more prominent role and offered insight into his standout qualities.

“This wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision; we were prepared for him to step up,” Pierce explained. “And he has made the most of the chances given to him. He’s vocal and exhibits a quiet confidence. He possesses incredible physical attributes—tall, agile, excellent ball skills, and a physical presence that shone through [last Sunday]. He’s positioned himself very well.”
