Eagles Announce Jalen Hurts Will Not Play in Week 17

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced on Friday that they have ruled out quarterback Jalen Hurts for Week 17 due to a concussion.

All signs pointed towards Hurts’ absence this week as the Eagles prepare to turn to Kenny Pickett for their matchup against the Cowboys on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts, 26, was drafted by the Eagles in the second round out of Oklahoma in 2020. He began his career with a four-year contract worth $6,025,171, which included a signing bonus of $1,941,943.

This year, Hurts was set to earn a base salary of $1.3 million in 2023, which is the final year of his initial contract, before signing a remarkable five-year, $255 million extension.

In the 2024 season, Hurts has played in 15 games, completing 68.7% of his passes for a total of 2,903 yards, alongside 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 630 yards and added 14 touchdowns.
