Eagles QB Kenny Pickett Anticipated to Start in Week 17
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni announced that it will be “challenging” for quarterback Jalen Hurts to participate in Week 17 due to a concussion. This news indicates that quarterback Kenny Pickett is anticipated to start for the Eagles this week.
“It’s going to be tough for him to make it this week,” said Sirianni regarding Hurts’ status, as reported by Tim McManus.
Kenny Pickett, 25, was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was named the 2021 ACC Player of the Year, made First Team All-ACC, and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.
He signed a four-year contract worth $14,067,904, which includes a $7,411,203 signing bonus. Additionally, there’s a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2025. Earlier this March, Pickett was traded to the Eagles.
In the ongoing 2024 season, Pickett has played in four games, completing 55.6 percent of his passes for 148 yards, along with one touchdown and one interception.
