Commanders Hold Workout for Punter Trenton Gill
The Washington Commanders recently conducted a workout for punter Trenton Gill, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Gill joins the Commanders after a brief period with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he served as a replacement punter earlier this season.
At 25, Gill was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, making him the 255th pick overall. He was in his third year of a four-year rookie contract valued at $3.7 million at the time he was released by the Bears in May.
Prior to joining the Commanders, Gill also had a brief stint with the Denver Broncos before being signed to the Buccaneers’ practice squad, where he later earned a promotion to the active roster. However, he was released by the Buccaneers earlier this month.
During the 2024 season, Gill has played in eight games with the Buccaneers, averaging 43.3 yards over 27 punts, with one touchback and nine kicks placed inside the 20-yard line.
