Commanders Release Defensive Lineman Phidarian Mathis

As reported by Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Washington Commanders have decided to waive defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis.

Phidarian Mathis, aged 26, was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Commanders, following an impressive collegiate career at Alabama. He joined the team under a four-year, $7.5 million rookie contract set to run through 2025, with a base salary of $1,046,199 for the upcoming 2024 season.

During the 2024 season, Mathis made his presence felt on the field, participating in 12 games and contributing 17 total tackles along with one pass defended.
