Lions Activate WR Kalif Raymond From Injured Reserve

As reported by Justin Rogers, the Detroit Lions are set to designate wide receiver Kalif Raymond for return from injured reserve.

Head Coach Dan Campbell indicated that Raymond is not expected to play in Week 17, even as he begins his return process.

This announcement opens a 21-day window for Raymond to practice and potentially be activated to the 53-man roster. If he does not make the move, he will remain on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. Raymond has been sidelined since Week 12 due to a foot injury.

At 30 years old, Raymond initially joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross, signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Denver Broncos in 2016. He spent a little over a year in Denver before being waived and subsequently claimed by the New York Jets in 2017.

Raymond has had multiple tenures with teams like the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans. He signed a futures deal with the Titans in late 2018, eventually making it onto the active roster after an initial spell on the practice squad.

After being an unrestricted free agent in 2021 when the Titans opted not to tender him, Raymond signed a one-year contract with the Lions. In 2023, the Lions rewarded him with a two-year, $8 million contract, and he is projected to enter unrestricted free agency again in 2025.

This season, Raymond has participated in 11 games with the Lions, achieving 16 receptions on 21 targets for 204 receiving yards, alongside two touchdown catches. Additionally, he has contributed with 27 punt returns, accumulating 390 yards and scoring a touchdown.
