Lions Part Ways with Practice Squad Safety Jamal Adams

The Detroit Lions have officially released veteran safety Jamal Adams from their practice squad as announced this Wednesday.

Jamal Adams, 29, was originally a first-round pick by the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft after a standout career at LSU. He completed the final year of his four-year, $22,256,084 rookie contract, which featured a signing bonus of $14,326,244.

The Jets exercised his fifth-year option before trading Adams to the Seattle Seahawks for a deal that included two first-round picks. Subsequently, Seattle extended his contract with a four-year, $70 million deal in August 2021.

This past March, the Seahawks made the decision to release Adams, after which he joined the Tennessee Titans. However, he was cut by the Titans in October and later signed to the Lions’ practice squad in December 2024.

During the 2024 season, Adams participated in five games with the Lions and Titans, accumulating a total of seven tackles.
