The Detroit Lions made headlines on Christmas Eve by waiving linebacker David Long and re-signing wide receiver Maurice Alexander to their practice squad.

Maurice Alexander, 27, was originally undrafted out of Florida International in 2020.

He later joined the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL in February 2022 before being signed by the Lions in August 2022. Since then, he has seen intermittent roster opportunities with the team.

In the ongoing 2024 season, Alexander has played in three games for the Lions but has not recorded any statistics so far.
