Panthers Finalize Five Transactions, Promote RB Mike Boone to Active Roster
The Carolina Panthers have made significant roster moves by signing running back Mike Boone and quarterback Jack Plummer to their active roster.
The team also placed running back Chuba Hubbard and cornerback Chau Smith-Wade on injured reserve to accommodate these new signings.
Additionally, to further bolster their roster, the Panthers elevated defensive lineman DeShawn Williams from the practice squad.
Mike Boone, 29, initially came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 after playing college football at Cincinnati. He completed the last year of his three-year, $1.717 million contract, but the Vikings decided not to tender him a contract as a restricted free agent.
Following his time in Minnesota, Boone signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos, which included $2.6 million guaranteed and a $1.6 million signing bonus. He later signed with the Houston Texans before joining the Panthers earlier this season. Although he was released after training camp, he has since been on both the practice squad and the active roster throughout the season.
So far in the 2024 season, Boone has participated in three games for the Panthers, recording seven rushing attempts for a total of 22 yards.
