Saints Make Six Roster Adjustments, Promote RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The New Orleans Saints have made several roster changes ahead of their Week 17 matchup. These moves were officially announced on Saturday.
The complete list of roster moves includes:
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, a 25-year-old running back, was originally a first-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 after a standout career at LSU. He played out the final year of his rookie contract, which was valued at $10,821,572, inclusive of a $5,430,234 signing bonus.
After the Chiefs opted against exercising his fifth-year option, Edwards-Helaire was set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2024. He later re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year contract for the 2024 season, but was ultimately released.
Recently, he joined the Saints practice squad as they look to bolster their roster. In the 2023 season, Edwards-Helaire participated in 15 games for the Chiefs, achieving a total of 223 rushing yards on 70 attempts (3.2 yards per carry) along with one rushing touchdown. Additionally, he recorded 17 receptions for 188 yards and one receiving touchdown. Notably, he did not see any game action with the Chiefs in 2024.
