At 27, Whitehead was drafted in the fourth round by the Buccaneers in 2018 from the University of Pittsburgh. He has completed the final year of his four-year, $3.1 million rookie contract.
Initially set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2022, Whitehead signed a two-year, $14.5 million contract with the New York Jets. After that contract concluded, he returned to Tampa Bay on a two-year deal worth $9 million, which could reach up to $10.5 million with incentives.
