49ers OLB Dre Greenlaw Out for the Season
Per Cam Inman, the San Francisco 49ers have announced that linebacker Dre Greenlaw will miss the remainder of the season due to an Achilles injury.
After suffering a torn Achilles during the Super Bowl last February, Greenlaw has been grappling with soreness as he worked to return this season. Following the 49ers’ elimination from playoff contention, the decision was made to prioritize his long-term health over risking further injury.
In a related update, Matt Maiocco reports that the 49ers are set to activate linebacker Tatum Bethune from injured reserve.
Greenlaw, who is 27 years old, was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft from the University of Arkansas. He signed a two-year contract extension in 2022, extending his deal, which was initially worth $2.8 million over four years.
Looking ahead, Greenlaw is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
This season, Greenlaw contributed in two games, totaling nine tackles for the 49ers.
