Panthers Bring LB Chandler Wooten from 49ers Practice Squad
In a recent announcement by Mike Kaye, the Carolina Panthers have signed linebacker Chandler Wooten from the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.
Wooten initially joined the Panthers earlier this season but was released. Given the current injury crisis at the inside linebacker position, Carolina has opted to add him back to their roster.
The 25-year-old originally signed a three-year, $2.565 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals after going undrafted from Auburn in 2022. However, he was waived by Arizona following the preseason and subsequently joined their practice squad.
After his stint with the Cardinals, Wooten was signed by the Panthers, but he faced waivers again at the end of the last two preseasons. Despite this, the Panthers would later re-sign him to their practice squad before promoting him to the active roster.
Although Carolina cut him last month, Wooten managed to join the 49ers’ practice squad. So far in the 2024 season, he has appeared in three games for the Panthers and has recorded a total of seven tackles.
