NFC Highlights: Brock Purdy, 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks
49ers Updates
- Head Coach Kyle Shanahan announced that QB Brock Purdy is currently experiencing nerve issues in his right elbow, leaving his availability uncertain for Week 18. (Nick Wagoner)
- Shanahan emphasized that the initial assessment suggests the elbow concern “isn’t too serious.” (Matt Barrows)
- Purdy underwent an MRI on Tuesday, stating: “Doesn’t feel the best. … My arm was on fire. Tried throwing a couple on the sideline and couldn’t… The UCL tests were good in that regard.” (Cam Inman)
Rams Insights
Rams Head Coach Sean McVay defended WR Cooper Kupp, who has managed just four receptions over the last three games. McVay indicated that various factors have affected Kupp’s performance.
“I think he’s played well,” stated McVay via USA Today’s Brock Vierra. “It really depends on whether we’re providing the right opportunities. The receiver position is unique; several elements influence whether you can be impactful, including protection and coverage. Based on what he can control, I believe he’s performed admirably.”
Seahawks News
- According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Seahawks QB Geno Smith has the chance to earn an additional $6 million in incentives for the 2025 season during Week 18. He can secure $2 million if the Seahawks reach 10 wins, another $2 million for achieving 4,282 passing yards (just 185 yards away), and $2 million for maintaining at least a 69.75% completion rate (currently at 70.24%).
- These incentives will be added to a $10 million roster bonus Smith is set to receive in March, although none of this additional compensation is guaranteed.
