Seahawks Sign WR John Rhys Plumlee and Place TE Brady Russell on Injured Reserve
The Seattle Seahawks have officially signed wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee to their active roster, while placing tight end Brady Russell on injured reserve.
At 24 years old, Plumlee began his collegiate career at Ole Miss before transferring to Central Florida. Initially, he signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 draft but was waived following the preseason. He then joined the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad.
After being released by the Jaguars in November, Plumlee was signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad a week later.
Throughout his college career, which spanned three seasons with the Rebels and two with the Knights, Plumlee played in 52 games, making 31 starts. He achieved a starting record of 15-16, completing 464 of 760 pass attempts (61.1%) for a total of 5,838 yards, along with 34 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
In addition to his passing stats, Plumlee showcased his rushing ability, carrying the ball 453 times for 2,556 yards (5.6 yards per carry) and scoring 28 rushing touchdowns.
