Georgia QB Carson Beck announces on IG he’s declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. He didn’t have as good a year in 2024 as he did in 2023, and he’ll be coming back from the same sort of UCL surgery that Brock Purdy underwent.
So there’s a lot for NFL teams to look into on this one.

During his four seasons in Athens, Beck started the last two. He concluded his collegiate career with an impressive 58 touchdown passes (20 interceptions) and a completion rate of 68.0 percent over 7,912 yards, averaging 8.6 yards per attempt.

With Beck at the helm, Georgia posted a 13-1 record in 2023, securing an Orange Bowl victory. In his 2024 season starts, the Bulldogs registered an 11-2 record, which included an SEC Championship win and entitlement to the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff.

Unfortunately, Beck sustained a UCL injury to his right elbow during the SEC Championship Game while attempting a Hail Mary pass at the close of the first half against Texas on December 8. He was ruled out for the season on December 23, but is expected to commence throwing again by the spring and should make a complete recovery.

According to the latest B/R NFL Scouting Department big board, dated November 22, Beck is ranked 44th overall among prospects and fourth among quarterbacks, trailing Miami’s Cam Ward, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe.

B/R NFL scout Dame Parson evaluated Beck with a second-round grade, drawing a pro comparison to Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff but with more mobility and athleticism.

“Carson Beck is a talented pocket-passing quarterback with enough mobility to dispel the ‘statue’ comparisons,” Parson noted.

“When he is able to throw with timing and rhythm, Beck can exploit defensive weaknesses. His football IQ and processing abilities are commendable. He is best suited for a team with a solid supporting cast and rushing attack to avoid the pressure of carrying the team single-handedly. His overall skill set suggests he has the potential to be a lasting starter in the NFL.”

Despite having one more year of eligibility after redshirting the 2021 season, Beck has chosen to go pro and seize the opportunity to potentially be a first-round pick.
