Star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and standout Travis Hunter have officially played their final game for the Colorado Buffaloes.

The duo concluded their college careers with a disappointing 36-14 loss against BYU in the 2024 Alamo Bowl.

This game held significant emotional weight for head coach Deion Sanders, as it marked the last time he coached his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, in their college careers.

Unfortunately for Sanders’ team, the game ended in a lopsided defeat, but not before Shedeur made a memorable play, completing a 43-yard touchdown pass to Hunter in the third quarter.

Despite the loss, BYU’s defense showcased its prowess, culminating in an interception of Sanders in the fourth quarter, which was celebrated by linebacker Isaiah Glasker imitating Deion Sanders’ signature touchdown dance.

Sanders concluded his college career with a final touchdown pass—a short throw to Sav’ell Smalls in the dying minutes of the game.

Despite the bowl game loss, both Shedeur Sanders, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, and Colorado’s starting quarterback are focused on securing a spot in the first round of the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

Sanders has explicitly stated his ambition to be the No. 1 pick, a goal he underscored by wearing custom New York Giants cleats ahead of the bowl game.

Fans even jokingly criticized Sanders after he took a 23-yard sack, which pushed his team out of field goal range during the second quarter.

Shedeur taking 23-yard sacks proves he is ready to be a New York Giant.

Abu Mikaeel @abimikaeel

It’s the NY Giants cleats that’s making Shedeur Sanders play like a true Giant this Alamo Bowl.

Ultimately, Shedeur Sanders finished the game having taken four sacks, leading many to speculate about his draft stock, particularly in light of the pressure he faced from BYU’s defense.

David Syvertsen @Ourlads_Sy

The number one issue I have with Shedeur Sanders is the amount he runs backwards to avoid pressure.

It will never work in the NFL – and it will create game-changing plays for the team that drafts him.

Rustic Hillbilly @shartywaffles7

Does this game drop Shedeur Sanders’ stock in the draft at all? He is obviously a talented QB but the speed of the BYU defense seems to be giving him a lot of trouble.
He won’t be able to take these types of hits repeatedly at the next level…

James Lovett @jameslovett26

Shedeur Sanders is not a first-round QB talent.

Despite some criticism, many fans praised Sanders for continuing to play until the end of the blowout, especially considering Cam Ward’s decision to sit out the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

Ward’s team ultimately lost 42-41 to Iowa State while he remained on the sidelines.

Zach Fleer @ZachFleer270

Shedeur Sanders: still taking hits, throwing TDs with 2 minutes left down by 29 points.

Cam Ward: breaks a record, immediately subs himself out of the game in a bowl game his team lost by 6 points.

No debate who the QB1 in this draft is.

Anthony Wireman @awireman

Shedeur Sanders still on the field, down 36-7, with 5 minutes to play in the 4th quarter.
That would stand out to me if I was going to pick a QB in the next draft.

brian twining @Brian_Twining

For all the negative energy Cam Ward is receiving for “opting out” at halftime,
let’s have the complete opposite energy for both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
Two projected Top 5 NFL Draft picks out here with 4+ minutes left down 29.

In the game, Hunter made a significant impact with four receptions, including a touchdown catch in the second quarter, contributing to his impressive tally of over 100 receiving yards for the eighth time this season.

Regardless of the draft outcomes, both Sanders and Hunter have transformed the Colorado program, leading the Buffaloes from a dismal 1-11 record two years prior to achieving a winning season and bowl appearance this winter.
