In college football, star players frequently opt out of non-playoff games. However, Colorado stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are set to compete in Saturday’s Alamo Bowl against BYU.
Head coach Deion Sanders addressed the media on Monday, clarifying that players like his son and Hunter will be covered by injury insurance during the game:

The choice of Hunter and Sanders to participate is particularly notable as they are projected to be the top two picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Tankathon’s latest mock draft forecasts Sanders going first overall to the New York Giants, with Hunter following at second overall to the New England Patriots.
B/R’s NFL Scouting Department recently ranked Hunter as the top prospect and Sanders as the ninth-best prospect on their latest big board.
The Colorado Buffaloes will hit the field on Saturday after a nearly month-long break. They concluded their regular season on November 29 with a resounding 52-0 victory over Oklahoma State, finishing with a record of 9-3.
This marks a significant turnaround from last year’s 4-8 season, and Colorado aims to end the year on a high note with its star players taking the field against BYU.
