Several teams vying for the top overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft were present at the Pop-Tarts Bowl to scout Miami quarterback Cam Ward on Saturday.

New York Giants GM Joe Schoen and Las Vegas Raiders Assistant GM Champ Kelly were among those in attendance, as reported by Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer. Giants Director of Player Personnel Tim McDonnell was also observing.

Ward only played the first half against Iowa State, completing 12 of 19 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns without any turnovers. He also rushed for eight yards on two attempts, setting a new Division I record for career passing touchdowns.

Ward capped off a stellar senior season with the Hurricanes, completing 67.4% of his passes for 4,123 yards and 37 touchdowns before Saturday’s game. He was intercepted just seven times and finished fourth in the 2024 Heisman Trophy voting.

At just 22 years old, Ward is ranked as the top quarterback and the eighth overall player in the 2025 draft class according to Bleacher Report’s latest big board.

According to B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson, Ward’s exceptional arm talent stands out prominently in his scouting report.

“In conclusion, Cam Ward is among the most gifted throwers in the NFL draft class,” wrote Parson. “The combination of arm talent, mobility/athleticism, and accuracy is increasingly gaining recognition among NFL scouts.”

Currently, the Giants are projected to secure the top overall pick given their league-worst record of 2-13. The New England Patriots follow with the second-worst record at 3-13, while the Raiders share a 3-12 record with three other teams.

Although the owner of the top pick in the 2025 draft has yet to be officially determined, Ward is anticipated to be a strong candidate for selection, regardless of which team ends up on the clock.
