NFL Rumors: Insiders ‘Split’ on if Titans Should Draft Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward
While there’s a general belief the Tennessee Titans need to take a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, which QB they should select is sparking much more debate, according to ESPN’s Jordan Reid.
“His combination of arm power, creativity and a shortstop-like throwing motion make him an electric playmaker,” Reid wrote. “He can also beat you deep, as his 29 completions on passes of 20-plus air yards were the seventh most nationally. Ward threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the Hurricanes this season while also rushing for four touchdowns.”
Draft boards are never set in stone this far out and the quarterback conversation will evolve a lot between now and April 24.
Ward is the top-ranked passer on Bleacher Report’s 2025 big board and is the sixth-best player overall with an overall grade of 8.5. Sanders comes in at No. 16 with an 8.1 grade.
The Buffaloes star was nonetheless the projected No. 1 pick in B/R’s newest mock.
“Sanders is not B/R’s QB1, but he comes off the board here due to scheme fit more than anything,” Dame Parson of B/R’s Scouting Department said. “Titans head coach Brian Callahan is accustomed to success with accurate quarterbacks who can play on time and hit their designated reads.
“The reigning Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner fits the Joe Burrow/Jake Browning mold and play style for Callahan’s offense. Sanders is an accurate passer with functional athleticism to maneuver with his legs and make throws on the move. Fits matter in the NFL.”
