The Las Vegas Raiders triumphed over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with a score of 19-14, a win that may jeopardize their chances of securing the top overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce, however, remains unfazed by draft projections.

“We don’t do this to lose. We don’t do this for anybody’s fantasy football team. We don’t do this for anybody’s draft projections,” he told reporters on Monday. “None of that matters to us. Winning is what we want, and that’s our focus.”

While it’s expected that players and coaches wouldn’t consider tanking or draft positioning, fans—and possibly team executives—might have different thoughts, especially if a meaningless late-season win costs the team the chance to draft a top prospect.

The 2025 NFL draft represents a critical opportunity for the Raiders to solidify their quarterback position. The Giants are on the same path; if the current standings persist, it will be New York who has the first choice between prospects like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, while the Raiders could find themselves settling for their second choice.
