If Shedeur Sanders has his sights set on the NFL, he aims to join the Las Vegas Raiders following the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, insiders close to Sanders and the Colorado program believe that the quarterback prefers to land with the Raiders.
Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders, mentioned on The Pacman Jones Show this week that he’s aware the New York Giants will not relinquish the No. 1 pick if they secure it, presumably selecting the talented quarterback from Colorado.

@rydunleavyDeion Sanders states that #Giants “are not giving up that (No. 1) pick. I know that for a fact.”
And “Shedeur is going to be the No. 1 pick.”
It sounds like he fully expects his son to be the next Giants QB if they lose out. https://t.co/cLAJu30XTN
The Giants are currently positioned to secure the top pick in the 2025 Draft, but they share the worst record in the NFL (2-12) with the Raiders, with three games left in the season.
Should both the Raiders and Giants finish the season without any additional wins, Las Vegas would likely leapfrog New York due to the first tiebreaker, which is determined by the strength of schedule.
According to Tankathon, the Raiders’ strength of schedule currently stands at .537, while the Giants sit at .550. These numbers may shift in the coming weeks, but New York faces a tougher challenge with games against the Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Raiders’ remaining matchups include the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Chargers. Their chances may be adversely affected, as their next two opponents appear weaker on paper, and the Chargers could potentially secure a playoff spot by Week 18.
Regardless of whether the Raiders or Giants secure the No. 1 pick, it is uncertain if they will favor Sanders over other top quarterback prospects. Currently, he is in close competition with Miami’s Cam Ward for the top quarterback spot in the draft class.
The NFL scouting department at B/R has both quarterbacks graded similarly on its most recent big board. Cam Ward is ranked No. 8 overall, slightly ahead of Sanders, but both received identical 8.5 grades.
Shedeur Sanders brings instant marketability as the son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer and a high-profile player on a Colorado team that has gained significant attention over the last two seasons. This aspect could play a crucial role for a Raiders franchise looking to reignite excitement in Las Vegas after three dismal seasons.
