Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter is setting ambitious goals for his NFL career, including a high Madden rating.
The University of Colorado standout and projected top-five pick in the 2025 NFL draft shared his thoughts with Chad Johnson and Paul Burmeister of NBC Sports, stating that he believes he should start with an overall rating of 85 when he joins the league next year.
Johnson, serving as an official Madden ratings adjustor, responded that the best he could assign to Hunter would be a 76 as a rookie. Unsurprisingly, Hunter seemed less than pleased with that figure.
It remains to be seen how much playing time Hunter will receive on both sides of the ball with his future NFL team, and how this will influence his Madden rating as both a cornerback and wide receiver.
Most likely, Hunter will primarily play as a cornerback while getting some opportunities at wide receiver. However, if anyone is capable of making a significant impact on both sides of the ball, it is definitely Hunter.
